Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:10
Service with a Smile
I LOVE it when a writer's dream comes true and they become a published author, holding their own book in their hands!
It's my joy to journey with first-time authors through the crazy process of self-publishing. I encourage each client through the end stages of their writer's journey to publication.
Over the last twenty-plus years, I have served as a pro bono proofreader and formatter for many charitable organizations. After several volunteer projects for self-publishing friends, I launched "Every Smidgen Matters," now "Skinner Self-Publishing," in 2017.
Since then, I've invested hundreds of training hours into programs like Adobe InDesign, Vellum 2.0, and Microsoft Word, and I am continually researching modern publishing best practices. With my amazing network of editor, designer, and writer colleagues, I aim to offer each of my clients high-quality services so they can become a self-published author.
I'm Jody Skinner.
I am a proud military spouse who loves jeans, sunshine, a good YA novel, and any time my husband has a day off. I'm a work-at-home mom with two teens and a tween, and I'm currently obsessing about leash manners with my one-year-old Vizsla pup. Coffee donations and dog playdates welcome.
- Purpose -
Accuracy. Efficiency. Integrity.
You, dear writer, want to convey your message clearly, in your own voice.
Your reader needs the publishing details to be virtually invisible--no unpredictable text or glitchy formatting to ruin the flow of what you're saying.
My aim is twofold: (1) that the editorial suggestions for your text will match big-house publisher expectations, and (2) that the quality formatting in your print book and ebook will be a smooth background for your message to speak for itself.
